ACTION STAGES

Seaside Coast
-Part of the coastline, Palm trees, sandy beaches, and loop-de-loop seastacks border a picturesque azure ocean, complete with jumping dolphins (and slightly less placid orcas). Unusually for a Tropical Island level, the area is clearly developed as a seaside tourist resort; Soleannean marinas and lighthouses rise up from the ocean, while deckchairs and parasols can be found on the sands.

Desolate Ruins - A place of windswept dune-wastes and crumbling, sun-bleached ruins, Dusty Desert's heiroglyph-inscribed temples demonstrate quite plainly that the desert's practice of sun-worship goes back far further than the castle ruins in Kingdom Valley. Egyptian-style motifs crowd the walls of the sandblasted temples, with fossilised pteranadons and giant nautili adorning those surfaces that aren't decorated.

White Acropolis - A snowy (and avalanche-prone) mountain range, with scattered pine trees rising over frozen lakes and bottomless chasms. Being Eggman's fortress, the place is swarming with Egg Gunners and other robots, as well as towering searchlights and laser fences on every approach with extremely slippery snowdrifts at every corner.

Virtual Matrix - A cybernetic realm. The key difference is that it is Eggman's mainframe, rather than G.U.N.'s, and as a result, Egg Pawns guard it rather than G.U.N. Beetles. Because of the layout of the stage, the appearance will be described based on each area. Throughout the Stage (mostly in the Main Area (see below)), there are strobe poles that can be knocked over and used for an electrifying head bashing becuase of the colorful and confusing passages.

Genocide Yard - Set more than 200 years into the future of the game's main storyline. The place is an incinerated ruin, poster child for why a world dominated by The Gods of Flame and their monsters is not a pleasant place to live in. Burnt-out shells of skyscrapers rise above an unquenchable sea of living flame, and the warped husks of roadways curl back on themselves in loop-the-loops while immense fire- twisters scour the wreckage.

Aquatic Base - Hidden beneth the frigid waters of Station Square, Huge pressure-windows afford a view of swimming dolphins outside, while shield-doors and laser fences restrict movement within the top-secret facility. Several rooms are filled with strange, mercurial orbs; the metallic spheres can be attracted to souped-up electromagnetic pillars, thoroughly pulverising anything that gets in their way.

Volcanic Core - Part of a hellish possible future for Sonic's world. Set at least two centuries after Metal Sonic's chaotic attack on the Earth, The hot dominion has transformed the world into a smouldering ruin. Features rivers of molten rock flowing across a ravaged, blackened landscape. What stable ground there is suffers contstant bombardment from volcanic bombs.

Altitude Limits - Set amidst Dr. Eggman's armada of heavily-armed aerial battleships above a breathtaking blue sky, this level sees the heroes fighting their way across the stratosphere, hopping from one steel behemoth to the next as they push towards the massive flying headquarters bashing through Eggman's dangerous defense system.

Death Fortress - Death Fortress is an orbital mining / manufacturing complex, smelting down space rocks to provide minerals for the Doctor's schemes. The track takes characters through the inner modules of the asteroid complex, riding on blasts from cooling fans and leaping over giant vats of molten metal; and across the outside of the facility, down canyons cut into the crimson meteors.
